MINUTES OF THE MEETING THURDSAY, July 2021 AT RANTON VILLAGE HALL

PRESENT:

Voting on New Councillor:

Interviews took place on the 22nd June to select a new councillor to fulfil a vacancy. Two

candidates were selected for interview and Ben Jeeves was selected through a

scoring system. This was proposed by Cllr Forrester, and seconded by Cllr

Batchelor.

The councillors voted on the selected candidate, which was unanimous among

attending councillors. Cllr Jeeves signed the declaration form.

Action: Parish clerk to organise a councillor course for Cllr Jeeves to attend as soon as

possible.

21/25 Apologies.

Cllr Mark Winnington and Gayle Whelan (Parish clerk) apologised for their absences.

21/27 Previous minutes:

The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as a true record of the meeting.

Questions from the public

Mr R Edwards requested to know the financial situation of the parish council. An AGAR was recently

submitted, stating the income and outgoings for the previous financial year (2020/21). Mr Edward

also stated that the pile of grass cuttings in the churchyard would be removed by Mr P Jones.

21/29 Finance matters:

The parish clerk was not in attendance, howver Cllrs Russell and Batchelor will meet with the clerk

before September's meeting to collate a five-year spreadsheet of the council's finances.

Action ongoing: Councillors are still looking into the possibility of alternative banking after a number

of difficulties with Natwest Bank over the years.

Accounts to date:

The latest statement date for 30 April 2021 showed:

Reserve account balance £978.00

Current account balance (as of 01.07.2021) £11,952.58.

Reports:

Mowing: Request Street scene to not leave the cuttings in the Churchyard.

Action: Cllr Russel (Chair) to email regarding this.

Highways:

Signage either end of the village was being obscured by uncut hedges and grass.

Action: Cllr Russell will email Mark Keeling regarding Brooks Lane meeting and Mick Bailey

regarding the road sweep and weeding.

Action ongoing: Cllr Winnington is to arrange a site visit with Highways.

Footpaths: Nothing further to report.

Gulleys and weeding: It was agreed that this matter be discussed later on in the year.

20/32 Chairman's questions/items for information/next agenda

Update on Drive me: It is thought that the company has been bought out by 6th Gear. A number of

complaints from residents have already been made. It has been noted that on the 21st July 2021,

there was activity after 6:30pm which is a breach of conditions of use, and included competitive

racing with police sirens blaring out and cars skidding around the track loudly.

Action: Cllr Rusell (hair) has emailed planning and environment health regarding noise and planning

breaches.

The parish council's noticeboard is in need of repair. Cllrs agreed to consider this as part of the

forthcoming year's budget.

It was explained to Cllr Jeeves that there would be an election in 2 years' time.

The parish magazine will need to be updated with Cllr Jeeves' details.

Action: Cllr Russell will email to arrange this.

Cllr Russell (Chair) Thanked Cllr Foreter for being Chair for the previous two years due to the

pandemic.

The next parish council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 22, 2021 at 7.30pm
